About our translation service
I am a freelance translator based in Normandy. I translate in both English-French and French-English combinations. My skills, experience and affinities lead me to translate, in the field of literary translation, a variety of works, particularly on the subjects of history, political science, law, tourism and sport.
I'm part of a wider network of people in Normandy involved in publishing and books in general, as well as institutions concerned with heritage, history and local culture. I'm a member of the Société des Antiquaires de Normandie, a highly reputable learned society dedicated to history and scholarship in Normandy since 1824, founded by Arcisse de Caumont, whom I re-edited in 2018.
I can write on much more global subjects such as the law of Middle Eastern countries (translation of a reference book dealing with the legal history of Iraq in 2015).
I also work a lot with companies, as their needs are extensive. My service provides them with the assurance of accurate, high-quality translations in all areas that often represent a major strategic challenge for them (calls for tender, quality documents, reports to foreign entities requiring high-quality writing in English).

To translate is, first and foremost, to help meaning and sense reach an alien target. An intelligent approach, carried out with total understanding not only of the text but also of the issues and culture of the target audience, is an essential part of this demanding exercise...

My name is Landry LEFORT and I have worked as a translator for fifteen years. After studying English Literature and Civilization (Maîtrise LLCE) at the University of Caen, then at University College Dublin, I worked for 7 years for companies in Ireland (UPS), England (Easyjet) and France (Crédit Agricole Britline).
I also have a University Diploma in SME Management from the Insitut d'Administration des Entreprises (IAE) in Caen and passed the CAPES concours (English).
Having decided to pursue my career as a freelancer, I became a translator in 2010. Thanks to my practical experience in the corporate world and the training I received in this field at the IAE in Caen, as well as having passed one of the most demanding English exams in France (CAPES), I can boast a rare mixed profile that enables me to translate most documents in a wide range of fields with confidence.
Ongoing training has also enabled me to integrate new tools to make my rates more competitive, without ever compromising the quality of my work. The quest for quality is the essence of my independent adventure.
